Reaming is a material removal process that allows for the removal of mere tens of millimeters, suitable bore-holes with tolerances of up to IT5 and higher surface quality. There are two types of reaming: round reaming and profile reaming (conical bore-holes). Depending on raw material and reaming type, the total size is between 0.05 and 0.5 millimeters. Removal of cuttings is done mainly from the entry cut of the reamer, whereby cutting on the circumference ensures precision and surface quality.
