Laser engraving on stainless steel

Depending on the alloy, stainless steel is perfectly suited for “event labeling”. In this process, the laser beam produces just enough heat to change the material’s color but without it evaporating, so the item does not lose its shape. This method can be used to make elegant, decorative engravings on stainless steel parts, giving the impression of imprinted text. It is worth noting, however, that this kind of labeling is not as resistant to wear as engraving.

Stainless steel can also be engraved to produce a dark-brown or almost black engraving. This engraving is particularly resilient and therefore especially suitable for labeling machine parts and other mechanical components. Its contrast and durability make laser engraving on stainless steel the preferred choice for many industrial and decorative uses.

Deep engraving is possible on all metals in principle, but it is most often used for applications that will be exposed to particular strain, such as weather or abrasion. Personalized boules balls are an excellent example of deep engraving.
